Lean For Business is designed to encourage clients to adopt Lean business principles in their organisations to increase performance and competitiveness. Despite popular belief, this programme is suited to businesses of all sizes and in all sectors – it’s not just for big manufacturers.

Local Enterprise Office Galway is gearing up to deliver this hugely beneficial programme, with a limited number of spaces remaining.

A free half-day taster workshop will take place on September 27th at the Menlo Park Hotel for owners, managers, and staff of small and medium businesses across a variety of sectors who wish to gain an introduction to lean concepts.

HOW LEAN FOR BUSINESS WORKS

Lean is about being effective and efficient – doing things quicker, better, and cheaper. Lean strives to stamp out waste and to continually improve. Selected clients can gain a practical understanding of Lean by undertaking a short, focused in-company assignment with mentoring support over a 3-month period.  A Lean Service provider will visit the company, evaluate its processes, speak with staff and managers about the challenges in the business and help identify an improvement project opportunity.

Local business Stitches Alterations, based on Eyre Street, is among the recent participants in LEO Galway’s Lean for Business Programme.

The programme has allowed them to make significant improvements – from greatly reduced turnaround times to decreased stress levels.

Danielle Roche, who runs Stitches with her mother Chris, says ‘since we started, we’ve seen massive improvements. Our communication has improved, and it's a less stressful working environment now. It’s an easier workspace for the girls to navigate and the day just runs more smoothly. It’s a much happier working environment.’
